I hope someone out there can give me some peace of mind. One week ago, my 13 month old son died in his sleep. Prior to him going to bed that night, I had taken him to 2 different doctors because his lips and feet were bluish purple. They said his lungs sounded clear and heart sounds were normal. They told me he was mildly cyanotic, but to just keep him warm, and keep an eye on him. When I went to check on him later, he was no longer breathing. So far, the autopsy has revealed nothing obvious, like a collapsed lung or heart abnormality. Has anyone heard of this happening, or is it just possible it was SIDS? I guess I thought SIDS was more only in smaller infants. Can anyone give me any insight as to what might have happened?

  • I can't offer any peace of mind, only sincere condolences. Noone should have to go through that. Try not to blame yourself, life is just not very fair. Mike

  • So Sorry- words cannot express what you must be feeling. May God hold you close in his hands and give you signs that your son is at peace with him. I have two sons and hearing your tragedy makes my heart break. Once you take time to grieve the loss of your precious son, maybe then persue the details of his death. Again I am so sorry for you. God Bless.

  • my heart is with you and your son, i am so sorry, i wish i knew enough to help- but only can pray that the pain will fade. god loves you, and your child. if you need emotional support or just to talk- i am here- and many others who hurt with you and care. time will help but friends are better. I hope you get the answers you need.

  • Hi. I am so so very sorry for what has happened. I just saw a show on Montel, a few days ago about a similar situation. Unfortunately all that was told to that family by their doc was that it was a form of SIDS. I hope you continue to search for the reason behind this though. It just sounds like there wasn't enough oxygen flow or something. You know? Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
