About three years ago my doctor diagnosed me with IBS. Since then I have been on a slew of treatmeants and nothing is working. Currently I take Bentyl as needed, Phenergan as needed, and Pepcid AC twice a day. I have severe heart burn, constant naseau, I fluctuate between constipation, gas, bloating, diarreah, and did I mention constant naseau. Im 28 years old, 185 lbs.

I feel crippled. I had an upper and lower GI, both normal. All blood work normal. I can only eat very bland food, no salads on select fruits and veggies. I eat plain oatmeal, cereal, pasta, eggs, nothing spicy, and veggies which are not leafy (those are killer for me).

I cannot help but sit and cry. I cannot go out without knowing where every bathroom is. I do not know from one day to the next if I am going to be ok to leave the house. I have more than 8 bowel movements a day so I know that isnt the issue. The issue is the urgency of when they occur. They are accompanied by severe abdominal pain. If I do not have those symptoms I am so naseaus I can hardly walk.

My life is at a stand still. This year I had to cancel my own birthday party (telling people I had a migrane) because of my upset stomach. I cant continue to live like this.

My doctor said since they could find nothing, it must be stress related. So they put me on paxil.. thus far same symptoms, and paxil has caused my normal blood pressure to sky rocket.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I have been tested (and told I dont have) crohns disease, ulcerative cohlitis, gout, diabetes, heart disease, liver cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, an std, stomach cancer, nor ulcers.

  • I am so sorry you are going through this. I have gone through something very similar. Two and a half years ago I started having debilitating GI problems/weakness/fatigue etc. I could barely work. As a single mom I had to work so that was even more distressing. I have gotten most of my gi problems under control, but now am dealing with a whole new bunch of problems (I won't get into that now :). While I can't say what is causing your issues, I can say what helped me. After colonoscopy, endoscopy appendectomy etc. the only answer I had from mainstream dr.s was IBS. I constantly felt like vomiting. The best Dr.s could do was prescribe acid reflux meds. Those were a joke. I also got the "stress" diagnosis. Which basically means "I don't know what's wrong with you."My advice is go see a naturopath, or a dr. that can test you for mutiple food intolerances. Not sure where you are located but I can refer you to some places in Seattle. Anyway the only thing that really helped me was an extremely restrictive diet. Absolutely no: gluten, dairy, refined carbs, etc. I couldn't even handle fruit at first. While this didn't cure me, it was the only thing that gave me relief. You are not crazy, and there is something wrong. Unfortunately Dr.s have yet to find out what it is. I think most of the meds you are on could be making things worse, but you must get advice on how to wean yourself off from a dr. Remember they are not gods and can have HUGE egos. Good luck
