My 10yr old daughter has not been sick. She came home from school Thursday Oct. 9th with a giant purple bruise on her inner ankle. It was raised and had a red ring around it. When I touched it it felt how and she jumped and said it stung. I looked closer to see if it had a lil whole in it. You know like a sting or bite mark. THere was nothing there. I treated her for both a bruise and a bite. I gave her Benadryl and put after byte on it. I also put some ice on it and gave her Motrin. She went to bed as normal. THe next morning she woke with a low grade fever and had 3 more of the big bruises. I didn't send her to school. By 11 am she had 12 bruises and had a fever of 102.3. I took her to the ER. THey said she had HSP. She had not been sick at all prior to this break out. The "bruises" are not in clusters. They are very painful and she keeps running fevers. She has also had trouble walking due to joint pain. Her appetite keeps fluctuating just as her energy level. She is mixed; black and italian. That is relevant BC HSP rarely affects African Americans. Just as it rarely affects girls. >>>>>>>These linkns are pictures of her rash...>>>>>> http://i37.tinypic.com/2dierl4.jpg >>>>> http://i36.tinypic.com/2z80pl0.jpg

  • Lyme disease has a classic rash. My daughter does not have the characteristic generally displayed with Lymes disease. She also had many blood tests ran. They all can back normal. She is not sexually active. She has not had any blood transfusions. She has been tested for AIDS/ HIV and was negative. Bartonella also follows a specific patern. Please... If you can look at the pictures of the rash and let me know what you think. Thank you and God bless.

  • Have you had any luck with this???? My son was just diagnosed with HSP as well....I keep taking pictures of the different stages and today he woke up with swelling in his back....and when we got hom his left arm began to swell.... He has the same rash that your daughter has. I am not a believer in the HSP either since it primarily is in the legs and buttocks area. God Bless and good luck to you and your daughter.

  • Our son is 7. He was diagnosed with HSP two years ago. Unfortunately, Henoch Schonlein Purpura cause him to have testicular torsion when he eas six. They did a surgery and saved them. He has had lots of swelling and chronic arthritis symptoms all over his body. I would describe his probs as chronic vasculitis. His feet, ankles, stomach, wrists, and fingers swell all of the time. HSP is a nightmare. It does not necessarily go away in 6 weeks like they say. In Sept. 2010 it will be two years since his HSP diagnosis and and his feet have still been hurting and swelling just last week! Good luck to you but be prepared for a long ride.
