Dampness around anus?

Lately, I constantly feel like my anus is not clean...Back home I usually use a spray of water to wash after a bowel movement but since moving here where they don't have the right equipment, I just make do with washing in the tub and I feel damp there all the time...and dirty.

I wipe with a paper towel after washing and there's always some stool residue which makes me wash again. I'm gentle. But I never feel 100% clean. It's uncomfortable.

And I also feel like my muscles there aren't relaxed -- like they want to push out more stool. I don't know if I'm just thinking too much about it or I have an actual condition.

I have some difficulty passing stool, but it's eased now since i've upped my fiber intake the last few days. So that's not a problem. But i still feel that discomfort.
I don't have pain and no bleeding. And there's no sign of external hemorrhoids either...any ideas?

This was all awfully embarrassing. thanks all!:(

  • It sounds like you might be from South-East Asia. Change of diet and climate may cause some of what you describe, and so may different types of toilets (squatting is way healthier). But I suspect something different... Question: Do you sometimes "feel dirty" even after you think you have cleaned yourself properly? Then you may have minor discharge, and that is usually due to some sort of worm parasite. Most of them can be treated easily - if correctly diagnosed, but that is not so easy.Good luck!

Yeah, I'm from from south-east asia. but i didn't live there.I dunno, I guess the new sorts of toilets (like, we have toilets back home OBVIOUSLY but we also have a connected hose/spray thing that we use to clean ourselves instead of just using toilet paper. so i'm very used to washing myself with water).I'm feeling a lot better once i've just stopped thinking about it too much. but if it does persist I'm going to have to take myself to a clinic or similar.I thought it might be discharge too, but I honestly don't know. How could I have gotten something like that, I was perfectly fine back home and I've only been here for 3 weeks? Is it common to get any sorts of parasite here in north america? It's only been a recent problem. I'm not constipated nor do I have diarrhea. My appetite is healthy and I generally try to keep a good diet. I'm also moderately active as I walk at least an hour everyday...I'm not overweight (but those fashion models BEG to differ) and I don't have any health issues at the moment apart from discomfort in THAT area.I'm hoping just not thinking too into it will help?thanks so much for the reply!

  • From what you say, it may well be just a dietary problem. If you are not sure, get yourself checked for parasites. I don't expect you would have caught something in North America: It is possible to have a parasite for months and even years before one feels there is something wrong.
