Ok so this is with regards to my boyfriend:

Since September 2008, my boyfriend has continuously had nausea, occasional vomiting, spouts of diarrhoea, weightloss and just generally been feeling unwell. Prior to this we had been on holiday to Cyprus, and he did/does not drink or smoke, eats well and exercised frequently = good health for a 25 year old with no past medical history (other than injuries).

He has been to the GP - who had no idea, so referred him to a Gastro Consultant at the hospital... they have done all sorts of blood tests, and biopsies, CT scans and even an MRI. EVERYTHING comes back clear. We queried coeliacs, IBS, gall stones, allergies... but the doctors are unsure whats wrong.

The cons said we should control the symptoms, he's had anti-emetics, omeprazole, buscopan and other pills... he then suffers from those pills side effects and feels worse.

The consultant first of all said it must be a 'unnamed' bug... 2 months later he went back for a follow up and the cons is now trying to flog it off as IBS. They have only just recently referred him to a dietician.

Lets just say we do not have trust in this consultant.

My BF is considering other routes such as alternative/complimentary therapies... any one had any experiences with kinesiology? (probably spelt it wrong!).

All I want to know is whether any one has had or knows anyone with these symptoms. I will get my BF to have a look and see if I've missed anything out as this has been going on for a long long time and we would love a answer to this problem!

Many thanks

Gem

Many thanks Gem Probably INFECTION: Possible - dysentery, shigella, E.colli, Campylobacter, Yersenia Protozoan for example amoebiasis (eosinophilia) Or Whipple's disease is a rare disease caused by bacteria Tropheryma whiplei (in addition to diarrhea as well as non-specific joint pain)

  • My BF is considering other routes such as alternative/complimentary therapies... any one had any experiences with kinesiology? (probably spelt it wrong!). I once went and saw someone who was experienced in kinesiology... and i myself found that helpful. (its like anything.. it may depend on the actual therapist). He may have food intollerances so it's good to check that area out in whatever way you choose to do that eg kinesiology or blood tests for intollerances (which are different to allergies as such, many GP/MPs dont believe in food intollerances but i myself have them and yeah they can make one unwell if one eats those things). Sooo many different problems can cause his symptoms.. so i can see why the doctors arent quite sure of what his issues are. It may be IBS or something else............. (i saw a specialist yesterday and the latest thing ive been told is they think im being poisoned by my body producing too much insulin (insulin resistance), i was told that can cause IBS and other symptoms.... It's probably not your partners case.. i have PCOS (a female issue in which insulin resistance or diabetes is common). i've now got to soon have a 3 hr insulin test done and have been put on a no carb diet.. no breads, no cereal, no fruit etc, i've been told to not even eat potatoes due to the carb/insulin sensitivity (thank God the specialist is going to send me to another specialist who specialises in this more and also to a nutritionist so i can work out what to eat). It's crazy, i've had 4 different medical appointments this week with different specialists.. over $600 dollars poorer this week, with cost of seeing the specialists and the tests and assessments, even thou im on a disability pension).
