Hi, I posted on here before about my continuing nausea. That turned into chronic stomach pains in the centre of my stomach every day and diarroea all the time -still with the same nausea. I have lost two stone, it if affecting my relationship because I can't have sex anymore, and I've had to stop work because I sleep five hours of the day. I went to INDIA and SRI LANKA before this came on, but I've had three stool tests, all negative, and even went on a course of metronidazole (the drug for giardia, amoebic dysentry etc) which just made all the symptoms worse rather than better. I started constant vomiting and diarroea and all I now drink are those dioralite rehydration drinks when I can get them down. I live on a diet of rice cakes and fruit and I'm taking friendly bacteria in tablet form. My immune system feels completely shot and I've never been this ill before in my life. I'm 23 and have a postraduate course to start in September. Is there anything else you think I could be doing to help myself apart from continuing to see the doctor and waiting for a colonoscopy?

  • You may want to ask a gastrointologist about is SIBO. It is a bacterial overgrowth that affects 20,000 million Americans each year. It can be cured with an antibiotic called rifaximin. This horrible problem can be brought on from something as simple as a mild case of food poisoning. Your symptoms really fit the bill. It causes extreme fatigue, low to no tolerance with any foods/beverages, and extreme pain and bloating. If you havent been tested for this. I would do it immediately. It could solve your problem. Also- I dont mean to frighten you, but have you been tested for HIV? I really doubt that is what it is but you may want to consider getting tested.Best of luck!!!

  • Do you still have your appendix? Mine never hurt in the lower right quadrant, but rather right behind the navel. I was sick for several months. Get a CT of the abdomen and have some bloodwork drawn. Also, have you been tested for worms?
