Hello, I wondered if you could help me:

I'm 23 and I got back from India 2 months ago, and since then, everyday I have been feeling SO sick. Really bad nausea where I have to lie down, can't go out or leave the house for hours.. and it's everyday. I'm not vomiting from it, it's just constant nausea. My partner's getting annoyed with me because it's become something between us and I can't do anything, I can hardly go to work. In India I got a bit of diarroea, but nothing serious enough to be causing this ongoing feeling. I've been to the Doctor and they've done a stool test and a blood test and they said there is nothing wrong. Along with the nausea is a nauseous sensation in my stomach (it's not just in my head and throat) and I feel a little dizzy. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

  • It sounds like giardia (sp?) a parasite. A woman I know contracted it when she traveled to Africa. What kind of stool test did your Dr do? Were you checked specifically for parasites?

  • Sorry to state the obvious, but have you had a pregnancy test?DOM

  • Hi,I don't have giardia because I've been tested for it and I'm not pregnant. My stools are very pale.. does that add anything to the diagnosis? And my whole stomach area is constantly very sensitive. I've looked it up and it says Hepatitis matches my symptoms, but I had the injection before I went (about 3 weeks before I went) - was that too soon before I went away?

  • I would get your gallbladder checked - this sounds very likely that you may be having GB troubles. Also, get your liver enzyme levels tested and Hep tests - there are many kinds of Hepatitis, and it is possible you have one of the less common ones, and vaccines are helpful, but not 100% effective. There is only a vaccine for A and B I believe, but am not sure... Get a second opinion or have your doc order an ultrasound or CAT. Fresh ginger tea is very helpful in alleviating nausea and settling the stomach. Best wishesDOM

  • hello, Yes, I mean the vaccination for Hep A. Thank you for all your posts, I will try and go to the Doctor's to check out my liver function and gall bladder.
