I need some help, my 12 year old has had a very deep whooping like cough for 6 weeks. We have had him to the pediatrician 4 xs, no diagnosis, an internalist did blood work , tested for whooping cough and did chest xrays, no diagnosis. We went to a childrens respitory specialist and they are saying its not medical and are sending him to a child psychologist. They think its in his head. They call it a Psycogenic cough. He is continually coughing and says his throat hurts and is itchy. They think he is doing this because he has a mental issue that he can't talk about and this is how he is dealing with it. He is tired all the time and all of his muscles hurt. He has been on steroids..they said to stregthen his lungs, z-pac and Biaxin..just incase it was contatious...several different cough syrups, with no relief. Now my younger child has had a cough for a couple of weeks, initially diagnoised as strep throat, he completed all antibiodics and he is still coughing, although not as much as my oldest and its not as whoopy as a cough. I am very concerned and no one seems to know whats going on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:)Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
