Went to ER yesterday with the folowing symptoms:
-struggling to get words out (mouth not saying what my brain knows I want to speak)
-continuous dizziness
-Seeing spots/right peripheral vision went 'black' for about 30 seconds.
-bad neck pain

I woke yesterday with the neck pain. I was standing at work when I felt a rush like I was passing out, I started seeing spots and lost peripheral vision in right eye. After a few minutes, the vision problems were fine, but I felt like I was drunk. I thought I was slurring words, felt confused, dizzy and off balance. The ER doc diagnosed me with vertigo. He did not address the reason I went to the ER, which was the confusion not feeling mentally 'all there'. My wife agrees that I am not myself. Is the doc correct, that it is just vertigo? Are all of these symptoms associated with vertigo? Should I go see someone else.

I still have the neck pain, dizziness, and lack of mental sharpness.

  • Sounds like you might have had a TIA. but first, look up benign positional vertigo? BPV. Do the simple floor movements and see if that helps, but I would make an appt. with your doc. BPV has some of your symptoms, but the eye problem and aphasia (not being able to speak) are pretty serious. If you get worse, go back to the ER and say you think you might be having a stroke. That'll get you in pretty quick.
