7 months ago I was assaulted and suffered concussion, I was unconcios for a few minutes. I was taken to hospital where I was examined by a doctor being told my symtoms should clear up within a few hours/days.
About 3 weeks after this many of my symptoms were still very much there such as headaches (which were worse than at the start at this point!) dizziness, sick feeling, sleep disturbance etc. So I visited my GP again and I was given painkillers and was told it can take up to a few months to clear up.
The symptoms, particuarly the headaches continued to worsen so i visited my GP again several times as it was beginning to really affect my life and i continued not getting any further ahead.
Now, at this point, almost 8 months on, my headaches are debilitating me and have stopped me working, socialising and everything !
The pain is hard to explain but i'll try...i have a constant headache and sometimes i feel great pressure and tension, feels like my head is going to explode and i get like rushes of blood to the head feeling alot during any sort of physical activity> I've noticed my eyes sometimes feeling weak aswell now as if their finding it hard to focus. Headaches are considerably worse in the mornings, it begins to pound as soon as i open my eyes now.
Im scheduled for my FIRST CT scan this week after a 7week wait. I haven't been given the opportunity to speak to a neurologist as of yet! I'm on loads of tablets with no noticable improvement and im only 20years old!
Has anybody had any experience with this kind of thing? Or any ideas what could be wrong with me? This is really frightening me as the longer its being left the worse it is getting.
Please any advice or comments would be so gratefully recieved...
Many thanks fo r taking the time to read this.

  • See what the CT shows..I had blow to my head, too...took two years to recover from the blow...you need more information...were you given any counseling to deal with the assault? That may help emotions, but sounds like your physical symptoms need a thorough investigation.

  • My five-year-old duaghter also suffered from a big fall and had a great deal of damage. When I rushed to help her she had loss conciousness and was rushed to the ER by ambulance where she was admited in the hospital overnight for monitoring. The initial CT scan revealed nothing out of place but five months have passed and she still experiencing severe headaches, especially if she accidentally bumps her head even lightly. Being a very ative six-year-old little girl, is impossible to prevent her from playing which many times results on a fall. The last time she bump her head lightly playing with ther sister I took her to the ER just in case because she complained that she could not see very well. There, the doctors decided not to do another scan because as they explain, every scan delivers the radiation of 150 x-rays at one shot and that is why doctors are carefull to prescript them unless is absolutely necessary, specially on young people. I am now trying to make an appointment with a pediatric neurologist and I hope to get somewhere with this. I share your pain, not physically but from the perspective of a mother, at this point I wish it happened to me and not to her. Please demand to see a neurologist ASAP, sometimes doctors are overly precautious and the patients are who pay the price.
