My husband has chronic gastritis and can't seem to get rid of it. He has tried different acid reducers, stopped eating certain foods and nothing seems to help. Any advise out there, we are getting desperate. E.E.

  • Yes, he has been tested and gone through antibiotics twice, the h-pilori is no longer present. His last testing with biopsy etc. showed chronic gastritis, that was the diagnosis. Where do we go from here. E.E.

  • I had bad gastritis for about a year tolerating it because I was eating more fiber and blamed that in my effort to diet. When I couldn't stand it anymore I went to a gastroenterologist. He asked me what I had eaten so far and then asked me to blow into a little pipelike meter. He said I tested positive for lactose intolerance and I thought he was nuts. He told me to come back after fasting, then drink a full glass of whole milk and go back for a test 2 hrs later. He said my number was "off the charts". He diagnosed me as being lactose intolerant which I still didn't believe. He suggested I buy lactaid milk or soy milk and take lactose pills (over the counter) when I have "regular" dairy products. You have to take the pills with the first swallow of "regular" dairy and at least one more every 20 mins. while eating dairy. GASTRITIS IS GONE except for the days I forget to take a pill while having dairy! Hope this helps!
