Hi, My name is Norah and I am 18 years old, and for the past year and a half I have been quiet sick. Every 3-4 weeks i get sick. And I've been to my Doctor and he seems to have no clue what is wrong with me. We have done a number of tests, involving various bloodwork, scans etc. Being sick like this really is interferring with my life as a student and well as a person.
So if anyone is going through the same thing...or has any advice ...I would love you forever!

(ps. and I'm pretty sure its not a the common flu, or mono)
(also I am sick for a good 3-5 days, were I can do nothing but rest)
(also I never "infect" anyone else in my family, friends, etc.)

My Symptoms:
Sore throat...
enlarged glans ..(by my throat)
Dizzy
Headach (bad headache)
Fever (100.5-103.6)
Chills
Sweats
Aches. (sharp pain all over my body)
and I sleep for hours (over ten hours when I'm sick...not counting when I sleep at night)
very weak
no apetite (sic?)

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
Thank you so much!

-Norah

  • You Might be having a relaps of mono which is what happened to a good friend, it was very strange and she thought it was something else so when she felt better she would do to much and get a relaps without even knowing it, it went on for quite a while.

  • Dear Norah,My heart really goes out to you. I am 47 year old mom and now an inactive RN due to having Crohn's.Have you had your sinuses checked? I mean a CT scan or MRI by a specialist.Ten years ago I went through 5 sinus surgeries due to a severe infection that eventually got into my sinus bone structure. I had many of your symptoms. We have 'front' and 'back' sinus cavities that can get infected. If they don't drain it can cause all your symptoms. Possibly the frequent, but not constant fevers, swollen glands, nausea, etc...can be related to your sinus ( or sinuses) draining. It is just a thought. Good luck and my prayers will be with you. I know what frustration can be when you know something is wrong, but nothing is found (at first). Do not give up!!Susan

  • are you sure this isn't mono? i guess i was a kid when i got mono but didn't find out till later in life when i got the symptoms you mention, then it got complicated with pneumonia. It's terrible! and it lasts LONG! months!!! Epstein-Barr is the test I think.

  • I'll start by saying that my 20 son has visited the Emerg. 3 times in the last week. symptoms? swollen glands, weak, no appetite, fever, chills, pale as a ghost. His pee was bright orange?they did x-rays' a small ultra sound, blood tests, urine test the x-ray showed his spleen enlarged as well as his neck. They said probably mono and sent him home with tylenol. 2 days later, back with pain in his belly ( sleen) He had an extensive ultra sound which showed an enflamed liver, and numerous spots in his neck and lower spleen and liver.Long story short(er) Hodgkins?, he does have all the symptoms and this is often misdiagnosed. His blood tests came back again as negative for mono, then positive? they said because his liver and spleen were enlarged they were not filtering toxins in his body and his kidneys' were working overtimeToday in pain he went to emerg again, they said it's probably mono and put him in the hopital.Hopefully they will do proper screening blood tests for Hodgkins or Mono.Dr dont know everything, do your own research and listen to your bodyn.
