  • I recommend another stool test - specifically for candida and c. difficile bacteria. These are not often included in a regular test: you must ask for them by name. C Difficile is a horrible bacterial infection directly caused by certain antibiotics. It can take up to 6 weeks to develop symptoms so it is often not diagnosed. I had this and it can cause pseudomembraneous colitis, a severe form of diarrhea leading to ulcerative colitis... Unfortunately, the Western treatment for this is MORE ANTIBIOTICS! This is NOT what I chose to do. Instead, I went to my acupuncturist and he treated me with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. My diarrhea completely subsided in a matter of 2 weeks! Symptoms can return, however, as the c.difficile has spores that can lie dormant. I hope you don't have this, but if you can find an acupuncturist who specializes in Chinese medicinals, it will help you tremendously! To find one near you log on to www.acufinder.com and type in your zip code. Now, on to Candida. Candida overload can cause chronic diarrhea if your intestinal flora is upset it causes candida to proliferate and causes all sorts of problems. Please visit www.candidasupport.org for more info. A stool test isn't definitive, but can tell you if you have a normal range in your gut. At the very least you must take a good quality PROBIOTIC (acidopholus and others) to help build up your intestinal mucosa. Also get a digestive enzyme tablet and take two at each meal. Find good quality supplements at a good price at www.vitacost.com They are a great resource and have great shipping and customer service! Hope this helps. I really thought I was going to die with diarrhea 12 times a day...please consider my suggestions concerning acupuncture - it really helps!DOM

  • You need to ask your doctor for copies of the stool tests...unless they specifically requested the C. difficile, it is not done in a normal stool culture. It is usually a separate test added on - at least this is my understanding. Don't discount Candida - most docs don't think this is a problem, but I have found it to be a huge problem in my clinic. Go to www.wholeapproach.com and print out their questionnaire - it is very good and helps you figure out if you have candida overload. DOM

  • Diarrhea can inflict almost anyone. It refers to increased water content as well as the high frequency of stools. The colour of the liquid stools can vary from light brown to green. Additionally, there may be flecks of blood, mucus, or semi digested food in the stools. Luckily, in most cases, diarrhea only occurs over a short period and responds rather well to a number of well tried treatments.evitalhealth
