I am so tired of coughing. I cough all day and all night sometimes productive, sometimes not. About 9 years ago I had my entire colon removed and now have an internal pouch made from my ileum. The cough started some time after the surgery. Is it related to the surgery? To the blood transfusions I got (from family members only)? What is the deal? I have had so many tests run with no clear diagnosis. The pulmonologist finally told me that there are just some people who cough and they cannot help. I think the doctors have given up.
A friend mentioned that I should be checked for h. pylori bacteria in the lining of the stomach. My internist said that since I have had extensive testing done, that one isn't necessary. The way I look at it is that if they havn't checked for the bacteria, then they don't know if I have it and if that could cause the cough.
