i do not know why my previous post hasnt been desplayed yet. maybe i just need to wait more than half a day. but i am impatient.. so..

Basically, my problem is long-lasting pain on the left side of the abdomen near breast, but as my doc said, it is not the breast tissue (was so scared of cancer!).
He gave me ibuprofen probably to relieve the pain and he said something about inflammation but i dont know what.. and if the ibuprofen doesnt work hes gonna send me to x-ray. i think the pills will not work since i've had this pain at least over the two years. The pain originates somewhere on bone or muscle - i do not know, but would say its the rib, maybe chest bone. it is very painful if i touch it, painful with any physical contact, i cant even hug my bf properly. the pain is often present also without touching when i do some specific movements etc.

Now about me.. am 18, female, had som knee problems (injured meniscus and the other diagnosis.. i am not a doctor, i forgot the name.. i had to take pills with chondroitin sulphate for it.. ). Also when i played ffootbasll intensively i used to have terrible shin aches.. i would like to play again.. what can be those pains? i am not really fat or something .. 168cms and 61kgs. i am really often ill (flus, fevers, viral ilnessess and things of this kind bla bla.. just a bit worse immunitiy) and i use to ha migraine. sometimes i dont eat very healthily but i try to do so. so i think these conditions have nothing to do with the chest pain, maybe only the knee problem.

Please tell me what can it be because i am a bit worried (most worriness passed when doctor said it shouldnt be cancer :)). thank you all 4 answers.

  • I think you need to investigate the cause further and ask the doctor to run more tests. Perhaps you have recurrent broken ribs and low calcium and need a dex bone scan. I'm not a doctor either, but I would be cautious with chest pain. Maybe your bra is totally the wrong size. Maybe you need a stress test and lab work up. Maybe there is something on your lungs. Lots of maybes need to be followed by an assortment of tests. If your doctor does not order any for you, drop him and get a new doctor.

  • BTW, i feel like my bones are generally weak. mainly the lower leg bones. i always have light blue bruises along the shin bone. but maybe it has nothing to do with my chest (bone??)pain.

  • Hi,Your chest pain sounds like Costochondritis. I'd deffinately ask your Dr. about it and look it up. A couple years back I had almost the exact same symptoms...and I know it can be very debilitating because of the pain. I was diagnosed with costochondritis. Its inflammation of the cartilage that attaches your ribs to your sternum. I was told it can either be caused by trauma or viral. In my case, it was probably viral because I also have a very low immune system. Its basically diagnosed by ruling out all other possibilities as there's no specific test for it. If it does turn out to be that, I'd highly recommend going to a physio therapist. Thats what got me through the worst of it. I still have mild symptoms but its manageable now. Good luck and let me know how it goes.Nadine
