I have been having chills for the last month now. They usually come on after 8pm. Sometimes every night sometimes every other night. They seem to last all night long. I dont feel cold hands and feet. Its more of a chill from within. Mainly in the torso. Its driving me crazy. I have been to the doc and all blood work looks good. The only thing they found was a UTI twice now with 2 different bacterias on a urine culture. First one was the ecoli which they treated with cipro and when they cultured again to see if it was gone they found enterococcus.Treated that with amoxicillin. Now I am done with those and need to get another culture to see if it is gone. But other than that I feel fine. These chills will just come on like that and its so uncomfortable. No fever. One doc thinks it could still have something to do with the UTI-maybe a narrowing or blockage somewhere---the other thinks just a virus. I have wondered if it could be menapause symptoms however I went thru early menapause and havent had hot flashes in awhile. But could some new symptom come on such as chills like this? Doc doesnt think so. I am lost as to what to do. I keep going back asking for help. I hate these chills. Any ideas???

I feel so cold its scary, a cold from within that no amount of heating or duvets seem to ease. I have mentioned this to the doctors three times over the past 18 months but all I get told is that some people are more cold than others. I am convinced something is not right. I am also wondering if I am menopausal and if it is something to do with that. I had the blood test last week but it didn't show up that I was menopausal, the doctor said that it is not always a good indicator anyway.Last night I hardly slept due to this ice coldness. Like the lady above I would really like some ideas from somewhere or at least be able to go back to my doctor with a suggestion. At least from reading the above I now know I am not the only one. Please help before I really do turn into a block of ice !

  • Hi! Well mine are finally gone now. its been a few years. All I can tell you is what happened with me and you can guage if you have anything similar. I was menopausal so mine could have been that. My regular doctor did not think so even tho other doctors did. She pursued and had me get an abdominal ultrasound and it showed my gallbladder needed to come out. I was NOT having any abdominal symptoms that would have led me to believe that was a problem. I had it out since it was going to need to come out sooner or later and it was better to do so while it wasn't an emergency. Secretly I was hoping it would be the cause of the chills. My doc felt it was- as it is like an infection in the system with the gallbladder being bad. After it came out I had the chills once right after and about 6 months later for a few days. After that it seemed to go away for the most part. Had them just every once in awhile after that. Now I haven't had them in probably a year so I am thinking either it was the gallbladder or some menopausal issue. I know how horrible it is-no one understands. It was being cold from the inside. And NOTHING would make it go away. Mine lasted sometimes for several days and then it was like magic it would be gone. Very wierd. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Use an electric blanket -even tho it didnt take them away it made me feel better.
