My 5-yr old daughter has Chicken Pox. The itching is horrendous. She even has some mouth ulcer to go with it. We are trying to stop or limit the itching with Calamine Lotion and Swedish Bitters, but she is still in a bad way. Is there a better remedy that anybody knows about? Pls help

  • Consider trying an oatmeal bath - take some dry oatmeal and put about a 1.4 cup in a muslin bag or cheescloth. Run this under a warm tap water and put in the bath. This can be very soothing for many different skin disorders. Look into homeopathic remedies to help as well: sulfur is very good for skin disorders. Rhus toxicodendron as well...google rashes and homeopathy and see what you find. Hylands is a great brand and you can find these at most healthfood stores or online at www.vitacost.com. Homeopathic formulas are just brilliant for children, and have no side effects at all. The trick with these remedies in my opinion, is to take a remedy very frequently at first onset - every 15-20 minutes - until you see her symptoms improve. If you just take as directed (2-3 times a day) they won't be effective. Once her symptoms have improved, then you can take them as directed. This has just been my experience. I have used many homeopathic remedies on my two children ever since they were infants - they have been very effective. Best wishesDOM
