I get this pain in my chest intermittently, usually rarely (like months apart between episodes) but lately i have noticed it occurring more often.
It is a very painful sharp stabbing pain that is exacerbated by breathing in. It is always in the same spot, just an inch or so to the left of my sternum at about the fourth intercostal space. I have not noticed any other symptoms that occur with it.
The longest period of time it has ever lasted was about 15 minutes in which the pain was so intense i could not move or do anything but just sit where i was. Other times it lasts 2 or 3 seconds.
Any ideas on what could be causing these attacks might be? is it possible it's just a muscle twitch or something more serious?
