I am a 73 year old male. I have been experiencing intermittent chest pressure/discomfit just above my heart for a few weeks and sometimes I experience anxtiety. Episodes usually last for 40 mins or so then go away sometimes for days. Does not affect my climbing stairs or excercise (I walk for 40 mins every day). EKG mostly ok - shows some minor damage consistent with high blood pressure but very minor changes from what it was 3 years ago. My blood pressure is normal now but it was high for a while (few months) few years ago so I went on a diet/ exercise regmin and was able to control it. I also take some medicines to control it-tricardin (chinese), natrilix sr, dispirin cv, surbex Z.
I dont think its angina since when I have an episode, Nitroglycerin has no effect and also I see no discomfit when I exercise. Have been to 5 doctors but no one has been able to provide a definate diagnosis. Any suggestions?

  • You really need to get the: Electron beam tomography angiography (ebta) It will show the exact condition of your heart and will be worth getting even if your insurance doesn't cover it. The EKG does not give much information.
