Hi, i would if anyone can help. I have a problem for quite some time (years) where i want to say a word but can't. I can see it in my mind and its 99.99% there but i just cant get it out ao instead i resort to using a different word. However, more recently (1-4months) i have found it more difficult than ever, so much so that my wife has said she has been the difference too. Does anyone know is i am just over reacting or if somethign is actually wrong.

May be nothing serious but this sort of symptom can be related to a problem on the left side of the brain. I suppose its reassuring that its been there for years and so far nothing really serious has happened, but I think you and your family would feel much better after you have been to see the doc who can assess whether further tests are necessary or not. Keep us updated, best wishes.

With age, dementia is more possible, so is alzheimers (but your wife would notice you doing other things if it was this.)But, there is another factor that not every one is aware of:Developmental Delay DisorderThis doesn't always mean abused as a kid, or mentally retarded. I managed to graduate from college with DDD. Yes, I was an over achiever. It was in college I was diagnosed, at the age of 33. I received a BS in Social Science, with concentrates in History, Sociology and Criminal Justice. What I've done to combat "word on the tip of my tongue syndrome" is to do Variety Puzzle books. These books trains your brain to think of words that you can't see on the page. I find that Word Finds and Fill-It-Ins do not help as much. Start with the easier puzzles, and work your way up. Its okay to fill in "helper" letters in parts of the puzzle, then a couple weeks later, try to solve the puzzle. The Easy variety of Crossword puzzles also can help some. Even doing a little bit of a puzzle every day can have benefits I've found in me. I keep two puzzle books in the bathroom and try to write something down every time. Take a minute longer, but its worth it. Reading a lot also helps. The point is to make those words a part of your active recall vocabulary by over learning them, and recalling them often. I try to journal daily, write stories or poems (even if its only in my head, if need be). But writing it long hand is really the best. What I was told was going on, is that my brain will toss out a random word and say "This is the word you want!" OR it will just disconnect and not tell me what I know. Its frustrating. In my case, it also causes Auditory Processing Issues. I can hear something, then my brain kicks it out and tells me I didn't hear anything, even though I did. O_oBest Wishes! I hope this helps you in some way. :D
