Hi, this will be long but please read it and help with anything you can!!

I am young and for over a year have been in chronic pain every single day. I get very bad pelvic pain sometimes i can hardly even walk. It hurts A LOT when I urinate and sometimes I even feel burning pain in my urethra. It feels like my pelvis is burning and aching and going to explode! Intercourse is also very painful. Also bowel movements make the pain in my pelvis very extreme and there is blood in my stool. It's very frustrating because I'm always in pain and doing every day things like urination and bowel movement i dread doing. I have been put on birth control for 3 month periods and when i get my period i hardly bleed at all and if i do its not even red and fresh.

I have been seeing many doctors none have been much help. I have had 2 pelvic ultrasounds, one renal. Ive had multiple urine and blood tests for uti's, sti's, etc and have no infections. I have had a cystoscopy which showed nothing. I have had a colonoscopy which also showed nothing. I am booked for a laproscopy to look for things like endometriosis.

I am getting very sad and frustrated because I can hardly make it to school and am falling behind, and am always in to much pain to do things or enjoy things. If you have any ideas AT ALL, please help!

  • You might want to check if you have Interstitial Cystitis. I went through the type of pain you are describing for 7 years before being diagnosed. You need to go to a Urologist that is an IC expert. I feel your pain and I know hard it is. I went through every test in the book with no results. I ended up in emergency many times and I thought I was going crazy. My condition is under control now. I still have flare ups once in a while but not nearly as bad as before. http://www.ic-network.com/

I relate to your feeling like your going crazy! I've had to go to the ER lots too:(

  • If your pain is generalized and you only mentioned the pelvic pain as one example of the intolerable aspects of the pain, fibromyalgia should be ruled out. The best doctors for checking out this possibility are rheumatologists, based on some support groups I have attended. Hi, this will be long but please read it and help with anything you can!! I would do what they call a kidney flush/detox, but if are constipated (not have a soft and easy movement at least twice a day (if you eat 3 big meals, maybe 3 a day) a bowel cleanse should precede it, or you may release toxins only to reabsorb it again.I buy my detox kits from herbdoc.com, which is the only way to get that brand, which I know works. (no, I make no commission off this:)). I've treated constipation and other GI issues with the intestinal formula, and kidney issues, like stones and infections, with the kidney detox. I would give it a shot. You would end up healthier that way, and just from clearing up the bowels, many people see positive results from seemingly unrelated issues.

  • Me too. Check out pelvic physical therapy. Sometimes the muscles are weak, imbalanced etc. It can really help. I did a lot of different exercises (careful of kegals though - it has been a standard for certain women but can make others worse. If you do this make sure to find a program that works with your individuality. If an exercise exacerbates things after 1 day -stop and find a new one. There are a lot out there. Vulvadynia is another thing to look up. This can deal with tissue or nerves. A lot of doctors are being trained in this - using topical neurontin, botox etc. Also, there are nerves that can be impinged - this is pretty rare though. Check out pudental nerve entraptment (Dr. Antolak) There are injections that can be offered. • Because I have a number of rare medical conditions, I have experienced the fact that some doctors get excited about the challenge of solving a difficult puzzle and others avoid anything that is not easy and obvious. It sounds like you have gone to all the right types of doctors, but did not connect with one who got excited about solving the puzzle. If you have excellent health insurance, consider going to one of the places that is famous for tackling diagnostic challenges (Cleveland Clinic or Johns Hopkins University are ones that come to mind). A very close friend had problem like you have described. In her case, it was a chronic infection that her body could not fight for some reason. To manage the pain, I would second the suggestions in another post. The alternative things that have helped me with pain are a form of meditation that makes me more aware of the sensations in my whole body. When my mind tries to repress the pain, my body rebels with extreme fatigue. For some things, accupuncture can help relieve pain (check out the person's qualifications thoroughly). If you have a religious faith, prayer can actually be a powerful form of meditation. Until you are properly diagnosed and treated, explore things that can help you manage the pain (including a pain managment specialist).
