So I've always had a hoarse voice. A few months ago I had difficulty swallowing but it got better a little now. I have a lot of gas from my stomach that I release in weird burps. They sort of get stuck and I have to force them. I burp whenever I squeeze my chest/abomen or move my head up. My abomen makes a lot of noises at night which is also due to the gas I guess.
I did a barium swallow xray and got an endoscopy a few months ago when I had difficulty swallowing and it didn't find anything. I was told I probably have laryngopharyngeal reflux or it was stress.
But a few months ago I noticed my uvula was touching my tongue constantly. And it still is. Every time I eat the food hits it along with my tongue. I can't feel it.
So my question; since the uvula causes the gag reflex, could it be that my uvula touching my tongue is causing a sort of contant (but weaker of course) gag reflex which is causing all these digestive system problems? And also, what can cause the uvula to do this? cause it doesn't seem long, just regular size yet still is able to touch my tongue. it's also bent now due the constant pressure
