I recently noticed some discomfort in my scrotum and a 'different' feeling in the shaft of my penis. I'm not having any discharge or pain during urination as you would have with an STD. I got an STD test done and was negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. I was on Doxycycline for 7 days and felt better during that time, but the symptoms seem to be coming back, but not as bad. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

  • This is likely due to nonspecific urethritis and many people so afflicted describe discomfort of the urethra that extends within the penis, sometimes but not always exacerbated on urination. On occasion, pain has also been described at the level of the scrotum or testicles. It can sometimes be resistant to treatment and my suggestion would be to contact the prescribing physician and seek a prescription for tetracycline enough to last 12 to 14 days. Doxycycline will work, but I've had far better results prescribing the standard tetracycline for nonspecific urethritis. Just be reminded that with this class of drugs, you must stay clear of dairy products and over-the-counter indigestion medications, which can deactivate the effects of this type of antibiotic.
