For the last year or more I have been having a cough all the time after I eat or drink anything, even a glass of water. At times it is hard to swallow, its as if something is making your throat literally stick together. I have the cough in the morning before eating or drinking, if I talk without taking a drink of water, the cough gets worse. At times I also have a rash on my collarbones. I have other things that I'm not sure if they go with these symptoms or not. Low blood pressure, polycystic ovaries, raynards, depression and bipolar. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Thank you for any information.

  • Pancreas deficiency. In Western Medicine- all your symptoms are 'unrelated'- in Oriental Medicine all those symptoms are understood together- as a disharmony pattern in which your Pancreas is involved.Western Medicine has dealt with all of your conditions as incurable. Oriental Medicine treat them and reverse them with acupuncture, herbal, and dietary recommendations. To make Oriental Medicine more effective- it is recommended that one looks for a Doctor of Oriental Medicine that has trained with the NAET modality.Western Medicine will give you drugs to maks the symptoms...but they can't find a clue on why the throat sticks together, and why food activates this sensation/activity in most cases. Also odors, fragrances, and contactans. This is a very complicated interaction of Pancreas, the Immune System, and the food you eat. But again, it can be reversed. It takes time and resources, but it will never be as costly as with the Western way.NAET.com to locate a Lac. Acupuncturist. certified with NAET.If you want to read on TCM there are many excellent websites. In your case, Liver is also involved hence you were diagnosed with depression and bipolar. Liver manufactures the chemicals that go up the brain barrier and your brain uses. So if there are problems with liver, it shows in the brain chemical unbalances that people experience. In other words, the raw materials sent to the brain might be a huge factor in mental disease.Cheer up :)There is a lot out there that you can do for yoursel!Best,Fruity.

  • Sounds like there is something wrong with your epiglottis, which controls whether your food and drink go down the esophagus, or down the trachea (which might be causing the cough). I think you need to have a chest xray which could show pneumonia from food going into the trachea and then visit an E.N.T doc. You could look up oro-pharyngeal dysphagia, swallogram, upper G.I. fluoroscopy. Don't know about the rash.

  • Yes, please see an ENT. Rash & trouble swallowing together are associated with hereditary angioedema.

  • I recently posted in another thread about memory loss, confusion, fatigue etc....but found this thread and was amazed, because about 4-6 months ago i noticed that i was having this problem as well.at first i thought maybe the coughing was due to eating wheat products or sugary foods....or most particularly milk. i became frustrated when i realized it happened frequently when drinking water. shortly after i started gagging violently and vomiting after brushing my teeth. this has become such an occurrence that i dread and put off brushing my teeth until i have no choice. not sure if they are connected at all, but definitely weird. no one has any ideas about the teeth brushing/gagging thing for me, nor the water and food leading to coughing. everyone just looks at me like i am crazy, even pharmacists, doctors and dentists...~S

I would start gagging and shocking. Also my lips would start peeling. Thanks God I started using TCM and NAET.

  • Once you think you might gag, you probably will. Do you believe in hypnosis? This might help for a start.

This might help for a start.I don't believe in hypnosis- it is not about 'believe', that's just Science.Well, as you might be aware, I have been researching on the Immune System (Cytokines) and I have figured out that it was an Immune System and Neurological Problem. Of course Hypnosis could have been used to give the mind auto-suggestion or actually to try to de-program the gag- just like hypnosis is use as anesthesia. But I never program myself to gag, in the first place. The first times that it happened I actually did not understand the correlations. Besides...the gag came with severe burning and peeling of my lips...actual skin came off while I was brushing...Doctors like to think that it is Psychiatric because they can't mechanically fix it. Maybe in the future people will know more about Cytokines and Meridians.Best,Fruit.

  • I meant "are you open to trying hypnosis to control the gag reflex?".
