Hi. I am a 28 year old female. I have been pretty healthy most of my life until about 3 years ago. It all started in July 2007 when I was diagnosed for the first time with Viral Meningitis. It started with severe headaches and vision problems in my left eye. Then about a month later, I had what they think was a mini-stroke, but I didn't go to a doctor about the symptoms until almost a week after it happened. I had partial paralysis on the left side of my body and difficulty walking and when it initially happened I could not say what I was trying to say and kept messing up my words and was extremely dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. Since then, I have had continuous headaches. I also still have numbness and tingling in my left leg/foot and arm/hand. In the past year my back has been hurting extrememly bad along with a lot of pain in my neck. I had an MRI of my brain and neck and the only thing they found was what they think to be a cyst in my brain (which they say is not clinically significant) and bulging disks in my neck that they also said are not clinically significant. Some of the other symptoms I am experiencing within the past 5 months or so are: chest pains, weakness on my left side, loss of balance, vision problems in left eye, and right eye, back pain, extreme fatigue, dizziness, swollen lymph node on the right side of neck, bladder problems (sometimes sudden urge to go, sometimes the feeling that I have to go but can't), really horrible dreams, difficulty swallowing (only occasionally though).
I am now seeing a neurologist, and finally just got another MRI this time they did brain, neck and T-Spine(middle back). I am still waiting for results. The doctor thinks it could be MS, or Transverse Myelitis. Next test I have to do is another spinal tap.
Does anyone have any ideas what all this could be? Could it be MS or Transverse Myelitis as the doc thinks, or something else? I have done research on those two diseases, and I do seem to have most of the symptoms, I am just trying to see if there is anything else that could be a possibility. Or anyone else that has similar problems that already got diagnosed with something. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I am a single mom with 2 kids and am hoping it is NOT MS or Transverse Myelitis because that will make things even more difficult to manage with it being just me and my two girls.
