  • You did not really list much such as if you had a virus or infection or your age or sex, but here is a stab at it: Look into thryoid problems. Very, very common especially among women and especially if you have any family member with it (though you don't have to have family history). And many up-to-date psychiatrists often check for low thryoid as depression is a common symptom as well....low thyroid makes you feel awful, and effects the mood quite a bit....I have thryoid problems and I can vouch for that;) Check out Mary Shomon's thryoid site...they also have a great forum where you can ask questions and get help. To test thryoid by blood you need the blood work for FT4, FT3, TSH and good idea to get the antibody tests for autoimmune thryoid disease (I have it) for Hashimotos (low thryoid) and Graves Disease (high thyroid)....thryoid can effect every cell in the body so you see it accounting for so many vague and hard to diagnose symptoms. An endocrinologist can help with the specifice, but GP in the initial testing would probably be ok ...but be sure you get all the tests...not just TSH (you may have to insist on this as some docs think TSH is enough....). This is only one idea...if you list further symptoms, age, sex and other background may be able to help more. Other things also come to mind like other endocrine issues, food allergies or sensitivities, other diet issues, digestive issues, nutrutional issues, the drugs you take may be causing side-effects (including the fatigue and diarrhea), and other autoimmune diseases to numerous to name here......Joan

  • I agree with elke. These symptoms sound like a classic case of Celiac, which affects one percent of the population in the U.S. Since there is only a three percent rate of diagnosis, there are probably millions of undiagnosed cases. I would recommed getting tested ASAP, if you haven't already. If you do not have health insurance, or the means to pay for the exams, you can try going gluten-free and seeing if there is an improvement. There is no risk in doing this. Good luck.
