Can't find the cause of my enlarged spleen

I’ve been suffering with a swollen spleen for just over two years now and doctors have no idea what’s causing it.

I’ve had numerous tests and they all keep coming back normal. My doctor has regularly been doing FBC’s which all comes back fine.

At first my spleen wasn’t swollen all the time so they weren’t sure what the pain was. They checked kidneys, pancreas and liver checked and they’re all fine. It was during an ultrasound that they saw my spleen was swollen. Since then they haven’t’ been able to find a cause. They checked my heart and lungs (I’m not actually sure why). They also checked me for ovarian cysts and fibroids (not really sure what that has to do with it either). Everything is normal. They also did endoscopes and colonoscopy.
They’ve done so many blood tests for infections viruses and autoimmune disorders, they’re all normal/negative.

Sometimes my spleen will only be moderately swollen so that the swelling is only really visible on an ultrasound. Sometimes it’s so swollen you can feel it. It’s painful all the time. I also feel nauseas all the time. The only other symptom I have is that I’ve started losing weight even though I’m eating plenty.

I was seeing a haematologist but I just found out last week that he won’t be seeing me any more since he did all the tests he could and they were fine. Even my doctor doesn’t know what to do now. It’s really driving me crazy, the pain keeps me up all night so I’m tired all the time and without any answers I don’t see how I’m going to get rid of it. I don’t know what to do any more.:(

  • Maybe it could be a vitamin b12 deficiency.
