  • Could you describe the pain more specifically? Is it sharp, dull, throbbing? Does your calf get hot or swell? Does the pain go down to your toes, or is it just in the calf? Does it only hurt after you use it? How old are you? Are you overweight? Did your doc tell you any cause he/she might be thinking? I'm sorry for all of the questions, but I want to help and I need more information in order to do so.

Thanks I had this problem. Couldn't walk for more than one block and had to stop. Then one night I had a very sharp pain in my leg and fell down. The doctor did a sonogram and found I had blockage in both left and righ femoral arteries and a 100% blockage of my knee. Had surgery to clean out gunk in arteries. They still hurt but at least I can walk further now.

  • Shuchi-- thank you very much for answering those questions. I have some ideas, but I really need to ask a couple of more questions (sorry!, it will help). Does it hurt in one specific spot in your calf or all over? Do you have full range of motion in your foot of the offending calf? Does your thigh muscles on the front or back also hurt? Are your feet in two different positions while standing normally (i.e. one turns out, the other is forward)? What type of exercise/sports do you regularly play or engage in? Is it only pain, or do you also experience tingling or numb sensations? I'm thinking that you might be experiencing chronic Achilles' tendinopathy.......I need more information to really be sure. This can be difficult to assess.

  • it seems your muscles are inflamed and for what reason is still a mystery. try applying some pain relieving gel on your calf , go for shortwave dithermy and do gradual physiotherapy to your legs. if it doesn't relieve then you may require muscle biopsy to see whats wrong in there.
