I've been reading about the burning tongue disorders because i've had this sensation myself. It's been going on for about 4 months. I also noticed that my tongue looks like it has flames going up the sides with deep zig zag cuts along the sides.
I've been under a lot of stress this past year and felt that this condition was related. I went to a chinese doctor. He immediately recognized this condition as having too much fire or being burned out. He recommended a major change in lifestyle, more rest, ...hah... and mild, cool food, no spice. I have noticed that red wine and spicey food definitely aggravates the condition.
I am a healthy 60 yr. old with proper weight, in good shape. After much reading, with references from everything to lack of B12 to thrush, I'm trying chinese herbs specially prescribed. I'll let you know how it works out. :)

  • What Chinese herbs are you using? I am going to an acupuncturist and he is trying everything to no avail. I have tried all of the mouthwashes and changed toothpastes and nothing works. I have found a gum from Trident with white tea and ginseng which helps keep my mouth lubricated and gives some relief. I still do not know the cause- have cuts on the sides of my tongue, burning tip and can't eat acid foods, drink coffee, eat salty things. I am very frustrated. My GYN said no to hormone replacement and I am going to ask my regular doc about that. I have had this for four months and I can't take it anymore. Something has to help. Please respond. I've been reading about the burning tongue disorders because i've had this sensation myself. It's been going on for about 4 months.
