Help- I had a severe UTI in November. Since then I have been experiencing a severe burning sensation and pain in the lower left quadrant of my back as well as a burnbing sensation in the vaginal area. I am now feeling the same burning sensation in my rectum. I have had CT's/MRI's and nothing is found. The burning pain is unbearable and is only relieved somewhat by percoset. My C-Reactive protein level was high..all other tests were normal. Does anyone know what this could be?

  • I had a yeast infection in December-treated and a bacterial infection in January. I have had traces of e-coli in my urine each month. I have been taking probiotics (Femdophillus). No fevers but the pain wakes me in the morning and I start sweating profusely. My Dr is stumped. I had a pet scan last week and waiting on his call for results however if they are negative I am back to square one. Does anyone know if an endocrine issue could cause these problems? I feel like not even blood testing was done..just scans?

  • Hi there-I too have had cat scans and MRI to try to identify the vaginal/rectal pain. After being told it was in my head because nothing turned up I was fortunate to be referred to a physical therapist with a passion for pelvic floor pain. It appears to be pudendal nerve pain and when she shows me the model with how the nerves go everywhere in the pelvis and up your back and down the legs. I've been doing therapy and just got a book Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein and am doing excersizes to stretch the muscles. I would love to ride in a car without pain. My sympathies. Hope this helps.

  • Did it happen after a sexual encounter?

  • You may want to check out a condition called Reactive (or Septic) Arthritis which can occur after a UTI or a bout of e-Coli, staph, fungal or other type of infection. The infection gets into the bloodstream and can affect the hip/pelvic/anterior bones/joints.

Many women have it....usually during pregnancy and most often it is without any symptoms. In my case...I had burning vaginally and rectally with no vaginal discharge for months before my Dr. discovered I had strep group B and I was NOT pregnant. As I recall, I was treated with Cleocin Vaginal cream and it worked like a charm.
