Does anyone know what causes broken capillaries/blood vessels on the face? Any suggestions on how to prevent these? Could this be hormonal? I didn't have this problem in my teens or twenties.
I'm fair and have sensitive, thin skin but so does the rest of my family and they don't have this problem.
I've reccently spent a lot of money on laser treatments to reduce them. I don't want to have to go through all that again.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Try an arnica gel or paste. It will help with the circulation and reduce the redness as well.

  • I had several of these surface during the nineth month of my last pregnancy. My dermatologist said they are very common with increased estrogen levels. Unfortunately they don't go away as easily as they show up. I just wanted to confirm your thought that they are hormone related. I was told to be very careful of soy intake as that is sometimes converted into more estrogen by the body especially during times of an increase in estrogen. I am not fully convinced that "some people" just get these things. I feel very strongly there is an underlying cause. I am determined to seek it out if not to correct the defeciency but also to prevent future issues. Good luck!

  • Has anyone found out what causes these broken blood vessels in the face? My 10 year old daughter started out with a couple when she was about 6 and now has a good amount of them. She also has some on her hands (the back of her hands). We have tried so many things. We had temporary luck with arnica and don't know if we spent enough time taking it. We are going to try it again. But any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,DanielleI had several of these surface during the nineth month of my last pregnancy. Her dermatologist first diagnosed her with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia but she does not get nosebleeds and her genetic test was negative for HHT. Her doctors now believe she has Hereditary Benign Telangiectasia. My advice would be to see a dermatologist because telangiectasia can be a sign of other more serious problems.
