  • I wish you knew what was going on with you then I would know what is going on with me. I came across this sight hoping to find an answer, but no one has commented on yours yet. I have had this same problem since March 15th. I have been to a numerious amount of doctors and specialist about this matter, yet no one can help me either. I am going through the exact same thing's. It's like I was reading something I posted. Hopefully someone figures out what is wrong soon. Nothing worse then feeling alone in this situation. I dont know much about this sight but if there is a way for you to contact me maybe we can put our heads together and fix us somehow.

  • I am a 35 yr old female, non-smoker w/ asthma since childhood. My asthma was always well controlled w/ medication. I've had chronic breathing problems since bronchitis in 03/04 & today is 11/03/07. I have been on Prednisone daily for 2 1/2 yrs. Much of the first year of my problems, I was on Prednisone more than I was off it. My maintenance dose now is 60mg. I am at my worst this week. Pulmonary Doc took me out of work as I am pretty much imobile. I am on my 3rd Pulmonary Doc (I really like this one). He is thinking Prednisone is giving me this side effect. My airways seem to be well controlled (I had a lung function test this week w/ minimal decrease versus last test). I am having a fair amount of lung pain/pressure w/ tight chest. If I talk for 5 or 10 minutes, I become very short of breath & hoarse. Per his request, in a few hours I will start decreasing Prednisone. If I run into more of a problem, he is going to hospitalize me. I had a chest ct scan done w/ dye 12/06. This showed some mild bi-lateral thickening. I had another scan done this week. Scan was pretty much unchanged except for there is now some mild pulmonary fibrosis (hardening/scarring). Doc doesn't think my symptons now are from the fibrosis as the fibrosis is mild. All I know is that I am to the point of needing to go out on short term disability at work. Not something I really want to do as I truly love my job... I can't help but think perhaps fibrosis is why I feel so bad now. The best thing that has come out of all of this, I discovered meditation. I had to do something because the Prednisone makes your head spin & barf green goop like Linda Blair on Exorcist. Wow, the anger this medication can give you, is scary..... Meditation is a temporary solution to help relax the breathing. I have found true happiness through this medical mystery. Now, if I could find out the root of my problem, I would be a tad happier...I even tried acupuncture. I loved it. I found acupuncture to be very relaxing. I stopped going simply because of the financial impact. My breathing was better when on acupucture. I was on a maintenance dose of 15mg.. I did however have several anaphylactic reactions while receiving acupuncture. Since I gave it up, I haven't had any reactions. Matter of fact, the first acupuncture treatment I received, I went to ER that same evening w/ my first reaction. Lung scan I had 12/06 was w/ the dye. I had an anaphylactic reaction to the dye. Scan I just had this week, no reaction to the dye. I am quite surprised they used the dye as my 2nd Pulmonary Doc said I would never be able to have the dye again. Be careful if you try acupuncture as an alternative.I hope I was able to provide some insight. I would enjoy any insight you or others could share as well. Thank you.Preddy PP
