I had a lump removed a year ago that was "abnormal cells" Now I am having these symptoms. Should I be scared? My recent mammo came back okay, but I have implants, so I worry they don't see everything. Also, I am supposed to follow up with the breast cancer dr and I missed my appointment due to my new job and not being able to miss work for another few months. The nurse said they want to see me right away. I am scared to go. Has anyone here had breast cancer with these symptoms?

  • The longer you wait, the worse it will be for you in the long run. Tell your employer that you have to see your doctor (they don't need details). If they don't understand, then maybe you want to look for a different place to work. You need to get the treatments or see the doctor while you have a chance to save yourself. If you wait...well, you could wait too long.

  • Thank you for opening my eyes to the fact that if I don't have my health, I don't have a job. On the other hand, I wish it were easier to find a job at my pay level. I can't afford to take a paycut and I can't afford to lose my health. Catch 22!

  • If you have to be out from work, you can protect your job by filing with your employer under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Try here: http://www.dol.gov/elaws/esa/fmla/fmlamenu.asp

  • Check out information on Inflamatory Breast Cancer and make someone who knows the condition see you. Itching and pain are symptoms but Inflamatory BC does not have lumps like most of we women have been drilled to look for. Please go get this checked immediately!
