Ive been getting these very large masses in only my left breast for years. Im in my early twenties and never had children. My gyno says my milk ducts must be small and cause blockage so all he gives me is antibiotics. The masses appear under my breast usually around my period time. The mass will begin to grow until its about to burst, (which is very painful), and it usually does and the stuff that comes out is so nasty. It has a foul odor and is usually greenish or brownish. I have scars all under my breast and I would to know if anyone gets these or knows if I could get corrective surgery. Thanks!!

  • I know this is posted a long time ago, but I have this EXACT same problem!!, I was surfing the web for some info, so if you ever got any, could you please let me know. I want to go to a dermatologist to see if I can do anything about the scar, but dont have insurance at the moment.

  • The breast crease can be a site for an abscess from the outside, not particularly from inside the breast. Staph can easily grow there. A friend of mine had chronic boils there and was diagnosed with diabetes! Go figure. If you do not have blood sugar problems, and if truly within the breast, then a de-augmentation mammoplasty (breast reduction) could solve the problem. You cannot breast feed usually after this surgery.

Prolactin is usually the chief suspect but all other lactogenic hormones like GH, TSH, Cortisol or Insulin can be the culprit. Thyroid problems can also cause this kind of trouble. The breast is extraordinary sensitive to hormones.Since you are fairly young you should have all mentioned hormones checked very carefully or the problem may not go away until menopause.# Goepel E, Pahnke VG; 1991 Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde; Successful therapy of nonpuerperal mastitis--already routine or still a rarity?; PMID 2040409# Krause A, Gerber B, Rhode E.; Zentralbl Gynakol. 1994;116(8):488-91.; Puerperal and non-puerperal mastitis; PMID 7941820# Peters F, Schuth W; JAMA. 1989 Mar 17;261(11):1618-20; Hyperprolactinemia and nonpuerperal mastitis (duct ectasia).; PMID 2918655
