  • thanks, but I didn't really get much out of that.. I am kinda looking for a straight up answer maybe....I am just really confused because I am not sure if it is my period, I am only on my second week of pills and have another week left and the following week is my actual period... I have made an apt. with my hematologist but that's not for another week or so.I am still bleeding and the flow varies..like I said I am really confused

There may be an interaction with your birth control pills. I suggest seeing your gyno and asking about this... Do you have a regular hematologist and if so for what condition? Are there other bleeding issues you have? Best wishesDOM

  • Try here: http://www.rxlist.com/loestrin-fe-drug.htm Yes, it is important to be aware of all possible side effects of the medication you are prescribed. Most bc pills can have the potential for very serious side effects. Just be informed:rolleyes:! DOM

  • thanks. I go to a hematologist because I have a platelet disorder where my platelets do not clot my blood. So i have proling bleeding. My bc is supposed to help with that. I am still bleeding from thursday I went to my clinic but they would only see prenatal patients today. So i was out of luck. I was just put a med called Tramadol with xtra strength tylenol because I fell like a month ago n its for the pain. If that helps with anything till then I guess I will see what my lovely hematologist has to say in another week!!!!!

  • Breakthrough bleeding is bleeding when taking oral contraceptives (BC), usually in the first three cycles of OCPs (BC pills), but not always. OCPs are formulated less potent for better safety, so it is more important to take them at exactly the same time each day to maintain blood levels of the hormones. If it continues, a different formultion can be tried, but in my opinion, if it continues the first order of business would be to get a doctor to assess your situation to make sure it is just a matter of hormones.Of course, I am just a student, so although I know what breakthrough bleeding is, I don't have the expertise to advise on all of the possible scenarios. Again, talk to your doctor. D.A. in TX
