Blue lips with exercise

I'm 28 and when I just exercise regularly, all is ok. But when I really push it (especially when recruiting my legs into the exercise), my lips go very blue, I get really tired, and my brain gets a little "foggy". It gets hard to recover from this and keep going (even at a lesser pace).

I eat well, exercise regularly, and get a good amount of sleep. I supplement with a good multivitamin, have had a stress test, chest x-ray, heart ultrasound, ECG, blood work, lung capacity tests,...nothing abnormal shows. These symptoms began to present approx. 5 years ago.

I don't know where to go from here but other than this I can't complain about any other significant health issues.

Any suggestions? I have tried Chinese medicine, several different naturopathic doctors, and a general practitioner. Been to a cardiologist, Ear/Nose/Throat Dr. and none of them can help me. I'm ready to try anything!!

  • Did your lips get blue during your stress test? Do you have a ring of white around the mouth when exercising? circum-oral cyanosis?

  • During the stress test they did not. As for a ring of white, I don't normally work out in front of a mirror, so it's other people that notice and tell me. I've seen it on myself - but not while it's happening, usually after I've stopped. As for circum-oral cyanosis, I'll have to look that up.

  • Hi:I had alot of ENT problems. I was sent to a neurologist and this doctor did an MRI. Do you need referrals for your insurance? I would think, especially with that "fogginess" a doctor would allow you to see an neurologist. I had migraines with my sinuses and fogginess with problems on focusing etc. I would think about having an MRI, nothing to be alarmed about, i had it done, just in case. They actually found that the ENT's were fighting about nothing!!! They have open MRI's now, if you didn't know, ask to be sedated if you don't like small places, not knowing if you ever had one, but make sure you have someone to drive you home. They don't hurt at all, they are just noisey!!! Let me know how you make out. Good Luck and don't overdo it!!!

  • I live in Ontario, Canada. So while we have public health care, there is a long line for such tests if you're not an urgent case.
