I have been spitting up blood for about 3 weeks, at first it was just pink streaked mucus, now is is bright red and contains more blood. I wouldn't say that it is more than 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons every morning. I also find that if trying to clear my throat in the morning it gets very painful totake a deep breath in. There have also been a few nights where it has felt like I was drowning on spit. Any ideas/ suggestions would be great.

I had symptoms similar to yours after I tried to swallow too many vitamins at once and they became stuck in my throat, causing a wound. I felt a sharp jab of pain and the blood appeared in my spit the next morning. The doctor prescribed a liquid form of medication that helped the wound heal.

  • I had the same thing happen to me about 5 years ago. They did an endoscopy and discovered that my esophagus was basically raw like hamburger meat. Since then, I have taken Nexium or Prevacid and cut out acidic things in my diet. Hope this helps!
