  • You need to have the reference ranges from the lab that did your tests, since the ranges can be different from lab to lab. You can look each test up here: http://www.labtestsonline.org/ , but as I mentioned the ranges might be incorrect. Kiera

  • There are numerous reasons for the total protein to be elevated, but the GGT and alk phos being up points to a liver problem. The high calcium can be due to the high albumin levels. What are your symptoms?Do you drink alcohol?Do you have pain anywhere?Do you have fever, chills,or night sweats?

  • What are your globulin levels? Here are some examples of causes of high total protein:chronic infections, adrenal cortical hypofunction, collagen vascular disease, hypersensitivity states, sarcoidosis, dehydration, respiratory distress, hemolysis, cryoglobulinemia, alcoholism, and leukemia. Here are some causes of elevated albumin:dehydration, congestive heart failure, poor protein utilization, glucocorticoid excess, and congenital. If your globulins are increased, then chroni infection, liver disease, carcinoid, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, multiple myeloma, autoimmunity, and kidney dysfunction are possibilities. Now do you see why we need more information?
