  • 20yr f I have the same problem- eventually my GI doc diagnosed me with IBS (abnormal colon spasm). We tried zelnorm which worked really well but I broke out into hives so I switched to reglan which helped with the pain also. Levsin is a good medicine to try. My mom has the same problem, cept it's opposite of constipation, she takes bentyl. Hollistic treatments that i've found work well is peppermint (capsules) or there is a tea called "tummy tea". Currently, I don't take any meds for it, it's just something I've learned to deal with. Do look into gluten allergies (bread, wheat, etc..) before assuming it's celiac. Best of luck.

Any chance that you used Chantix to quit smoking? IF so, that is what is causing the problem. As you probably know, smoking was a trigger for you to "poo" in the morning or whenever. Get a new trigger and help matters along with Metimucil daily. Unless you have a new trigger like coffee, it can be rough going.

  • Hi there, A colonic first, then drink raw celery carrot and apple juice...6 senna pods (from health store) brewed and drink as tea is an excellent gentle natural laxative.. Drink at night before bed...will clean you out...cut out white bread and red meat for a week...your tummy will go away... good luck! also if you eat fruit ,eat in morning on an empty..if you eat fruit after a meal it will swell up tummy...

  • Have you been taking antibiotics in recent months? Cravings for sweets, fruits, wine, to perhaps help kick the nicotine habit? Are you very stressed? A very good probiotic (go to a reputable health food store or naturopath) would be a step in the right direction. If you start to see improvement (even within the first couple of days), perhaps consider a cleanse - I use the Garden of Life product 'Perfect Cleanse' - 10 days, safe and gentle, no running to the bathroom every five minutes. Good luck to you and congratulations on quitting smoking!

  • I don't want to scare you, but have you seen your obgyn lately. Some of your systoms are those of ovarian cancer. It is very hard to detect becuase the early systoms are vague. You may want to look into it.

  • I just got out of the hospital with a small bowel obstruction. I had bloated like you said you was. I looked like I was 5 months pregnant. What I want to know is how do I know that this will not happen to me again. I have 3 children and I would rather have a child as to have the pain I was in. I agree with you it is very uncomfortable. It changed my whole life. I feel like a brand new person again. I just fear that it will come back. What do you think?

  • I had a complete histrectomy in 2004. I just want to know what is wrong with me and to know that whatever I had when I was in the hospital will not come back. That was the sickest I have ever been in my life. Thanks for your support.

This could be a GI (gastrointestinal) problem, or it could be ovarian cysts causing your pain and bloating. I would recommend getting a lower abdominal ultrasound and/or vaginal ultrasound to rule out the cysts. I had a 7 cm ovarian cyst that caused extreme bloating and IBS symptoms. The pain I had was worse in between my cycle - this is a very common symptom for cysts. Do you have any interovulatory pain like I described above? If so then I would see a good gyno. If not then it could be a GI problem and very likely related to a food intolerance or allergy, like celiac. I would recommend a holistic doctor to help you with this, especially a noninvasive treatment called NAET. Best wishesDOM

Rule this out. now. If you are not pregnant, then you should visit a gyno as it could be ovarian cysts or some other gyno problem causing this sensation. Are you bloated all the time? Is it better in the morning? Do you have low back pain? Do you have nausea or increased appetite? Are you taking bc? How long have you had irregular periods? Are they painful? Best wishesDOM

  • I have quit smoking several times and each time I had to start taking thyroid medication. Please have your doctor check your t4 and free T3 levels. Google smoking and thyroid - you'll get the picture.
