Bleeding Caused by Constipation

About a week ago I had some difficulty with my bowel movement caused by hardened stools and constipation. I didn't realize it to be a problem at first so I didn't change my diet. But after I had used the toilet I noticed some traces of blood on the toilet paper. Due to my busy schedule I did not shower for a few days following this so I fear that I may have developed an infection.

After a few days the constipation only worsened. I felt excruciating pain as I tried to force a large lump of stool as hard as a rock out of my anus. The process took a long time and was very painful. Afterward, there was more blood on the toilet paper.

Ever since I have been eating more greens in my diet but it seems that every time I have bowel movement, the spool opens up my wound again and causes extreme pain. I have had bowel movement twice since then, once every other day. I tried holding my spool in longer to let my wound heal but I was not able to even walk at school until I let it out.

At this rate my wound will never heal by itself and I fear I may have to keep going through extreme pain every time I use the restroom. I have no alternative either since I am not able to hold it in for more than 3 days. Since eating more greens has not helped I am now considering not eating at all until it gets better. I have gone two days with only water and spinach and now I feel very weak. I don't know what else to do because the wound still has not healed. Could I be suffering from hemorrhoids?

  • I am going through something just like this besides the pain when making a bowel movement. I did some research on the internet and I thought I had a anal fissure or hemorrhoids. Now this has been going on for about a month or two for me so I made an appointment with a rectal doctor. I just went to the appointment a couple days ago and they looked up my anus and found internal hemorrhoids and a rectal polyp. They don't know where it came from. I was not expecting this at all! I am in my early 20's. Now I have to get surgery in like 2 weeks to see if it is benign! I am freaked out. My advice for you is to go see a doctor a.s.a.p. and hopefuly you only have a hemorrhoid.

  • I'm a microbiologist and I would recommend that you make a doctor visit to rule out more severe symptoms. In the meanwhile, I do not advice you to try holding in the stool in your body to wait the the tissue to heal. The reason is that by doing so, your stool will likely to become much more harden because the stool remaining in your intestine would go through a reabsorption process, which will draw out more water from your stool the longer you keep them in there. So this would cause your stool is harden and prevent your wound to heal faster. It is important to continue to keep eating a lot of fibers and you may want to take "Metamucil", a bulk form laxatives (fiber piles) that helps consipation and add water and bulk to your stools so that they can pass more easily through your intestines. You can buy this at any shoppers drug mart or walmart. Please take it with a lot of water (or otherwise the effect may be contradictory). You can relieving the pain from a hemorrhoid by taking warm baths, use acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Motrin), clean your anus after each bowel movement gently using moist toilet paper, Use ice packs to reduce swelling. A hemorrhoid would usually heal in 1-2 weeks. As for the cause of the issue, there are a couple of questions that you will need to answer before we can identify the cause of the bleeding:1) What color is the blood? Is it bright red blood? If the blood is bright red, than it is likely a less serious condition because the red is coming from the large intestine.2) Where (toilet paper, stool, toilette bowl, bleeding from the rectum) and how much blood do you see? 3) Do you may feel a tender lump on the edge of your anus? That's a sign that you may have a hemorrhoid if you have that in addition to blood on the toilet paper or in the toilet after a bowel movement.I hope this helps. • I have had constipation cure problems for 40 years. Doctors told me take more fiber, drink more water, but I had no results. I took all sorts of laxatives, enemas, etc. and nothing helped. After doing according to this ebook on very first night I had relief. I plan to continue to use it all the time so I don’t have the pain and hard stools any more.

  • I think it is a symptom of weakness. You should check up yourself to your family doctor.

  • I have been through the same thing. I was bleeding every time I went to the bathroom and got very scared. I went to my doc and he stuck this tube up my colon (uncomfortable but not painful) which opened me up. He said he could see the internal hemorrhoids which were caused from straining when I had a BM. Since I went I have been relieved of so much anxiety and I know that this is VERY common. Just go see your doc and you'll be fine.
