  • Black "floaters" are pretty common as we age. They are debris (old cells) floating in the fluid of the eye. If it happens suddenly and you have a headache, you should see an opthamologist as you might have a retinal tear or worse, have detached it. Don't jack with it. They will probably treat it with painless laser.

  • this often happens in migraine.the coincidence of a headache in this case is most suggestive.however, you must get it checked,as it could just possibly be a small stroke or t.i.a.it would do no harm to start low dose aspirin therapy;half an aspirin every day,(quarter if you like,)with lots of water.unless there are strong indications to the contrary, everyone in the second half of life should be doing this.apart from stopping smoking, reducing cholesterol, and checking and controlling blood pressure, fancy anti stroke drugs will not help much more than aspirin.if gum disease is present,it should be controlled.it is a risk factor becoming more widely recognised.

  • It's probably an auroa migrane. Most have the tendancy to have black spots floating over eyes followed by a headace. Try caffeine, loads of it, and it will go away on it's own. Hide your eyes from light while the spots are there (with sunglasses or a dark room) and the headache will not be as tense.

  • If it's a migraine then it could be ocular migraine. One way to test it is to cover one eye. If the symptoms continue, cover the other eye. If the symptoms stop, the ocular migraine is the probable cause. http://opticalmigraine.blogspot.com/

  • Do a search for " Retinal tear " or " retinal detachment ". I had similar symptom, and that's what it turned out to be.Do not put off getting it checked out. Preferably within 24 hrs. of noticing.
