metal disc surgery on neck vertebrae 7 weeks ago. 1 week after surgery had a metallic taste which is replaced by very bitter taste worse than stomache bile. some burning in back of throat. mouth is sometimes dry and moist. tried nystatin liquid and fungal oral medicine. scope was done and nothing found. stopped medicines and still no relief. taste is so bad is makes her vomit. the only thing seems to be tolerable is oranges. She has lost 30 pounds thus far and has no energy. Dr's have no idea and says it is not related to surgery. They said to either eat or be fed by tube. She will not last like this forever. Please direct us to an answer. We have been to family dr and ENT Dr.
Thanks

  • Can you get her to a good teaching hospital nearby for a second opinion?JMO but if it were me I'd look for a 2nd opinion from a someone not connected to the other drs for a neutral opinion. An other thing to consider doing is to just call the surgeon and explain the symptoms-- he/she may want you in for a follow up just to be safe. Have they done any cat scans recently? Is she running a fever?metal disc surgery on neck vertebrae 7 weeks ago.
