I have been hospitalized 3 times over the last 4 months for recurrent C.Diff colitis. I have also had multiple other infections including esophageal candida twice. Up until about a year and a half ago, I had been a relatively normal, healthy young woman. At that time, I was exposed to black mold (and approximately 23 other types of mold). Now I have frequent nausea w/ vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, fevers, joint pain, abdominal pain, syncope, hypokalemia, excessive fatigue, and recurrent infections among other things. I have only been able to tolerate a liquid diet and even with that I have been vomiting. The doctors cannot seem to find why or what is causing me to be sick all the time. I am only 24, with no major medical history prior to when this began. Does anyone know any condition that I should be getting checked for? I just want to get better!

  • chronic fatigue immunity dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS) can be triggered off by a black mold exposure. http://wwcoco.com/cfids/bernesx.html Once sensitive to black mold.. most find they have to avoid it completely there after for health to completely come good again. I know of several who have completely moved to different states to get away from it and are doing good since moving away from areas where this is more.Sensitivity to black mold can cause all kinds of symptoms..and lowers your immunity....... I'll give you a run down of the latest CFS scientific advances of this subgroup (the neurological/immune manifestations subgroup of it .. also often known as the canadian consensus defination CFS. Note there are different subgroups to this illness!!). Last year (oct? sept?) the WPI discovered that over 60% of those who have CFS of the immune dysfunctioning type and often neurological issues.... most of those with it tested postive to a new virus, a mouse leukemia virus (MLV) called XMRV. This group who did this study on further testing thou has now found that 95% of those with CFS have this virus. http://www.wpinstitute.org/news/news_current.html there site (you will find all kinds of info on this there) On Aug 23rd this year! (so only just happened).. the FDA of America (american government agency) released their own study on this.. backing up the WPI.. that 86.5 percent of those with CFS are carrying mouse leukemia viruses. http://www.nih.gov/researchmatters/august2010/08302010chronicfatigue.htm There is currently still some debate on all this.. as some studies havent been able to find the virus (its VERY hard to find in people as it's thought to reside more in certain body tissues then the blood). CDC couldnt find it.. so the government is currently trying to get it's act together seeing it's departments got different results! But anyway, several different places now have found it high numbers in those with CFS.. hence we have some of the top scientists in the world currently working on this issue (including two of the discoverers of the Hep C virus.. and a famous AIDS researcher) Last week the first approved test for XMRV and MLVs has just come out for this in America to which people can claim back from insurance companies etc... How it is thought this virus is working.. is they think that up to 7% of the population has caught it (the blood banks are currently infected!!.. so hence why there isnt much news out there on this, and government dont want a huge outcry on all this, the blood bank at one of their meeting minutes states that it needs to be careful not to cause public panic!! and will go to lengths to not cause it). Those who have it.. some are getting prostate cancer (there are studies out on that some find it in higher numbers there while others cant find it at all.. its been linked with very agressive prostate cancer), some are getting CFS (also possibly some other illneses are involved eg atypical MS), while others so far have caught it and not showing symptoms (YET? no one knows yet if those will on go on and get sick). (the rates in the general public in Japan? thou is only 2% so this could be varying in the world. Its also in places such as Australia.. as i know of three with CFS who have travelled to America to be tested and were postive for these mouse leukemia virus's) Once infected.. it could be making some more susceptable to many other things due to how it runs the body down.. eg molds, other virus etc etc due to damage it's actually done to the immune system ... hence then some people getting CFS in which they have chronic illness. I know this sounds real crazy but if you research places like the top science mags, wall journal blog, government sites... you will see what ive said is true.............. There is also some kind of test for neurotoxins from molds.. if you look up "shoemaker" (its someones last name) "mold" "visual contrast testing" you may find the site with all good info on this.

  • C. diff is a pretty serious thing. Take a look at this: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/science/13micro.html Perhaps repeated courses of antibiotics have affected your body's flora (gut microbes). Look up "hygiene hypothesis" on Google. Good luck!

  • Hi, Mold toxicity and mycotoxins. And you may need to move or change jobs depending on where the exposure is. I have this, too and have been affected all my life. You don't deserve to live like this. Find alternative care if you have to as many traditional doctors are skeptical (they don't learn about this in med school but veterinarians do! Veterinarians learn about it because horses and other animals are exposed to moldy hay and get sick). Alternative care is like Applied Kinesiology, acupuncture, and don't stop until you find one that works for you. Take care and God bless.I have been hospitalized 3 times over the last 4 months for recurrent C.Diff colitis. I have also had multiple other infections including esophageal candida twice.
