I have been seeing small shapes in my eyes. What I mean by that is I am just gazing at something in the real world, and I see a clear "wormlike" thing with many segmented circles for its body parts flash by. It wasn't in the real world, it was in my eye. And if I tried to look at the worm-thing, it would vanish, but if I tried to just relax and look somewhere else, it would ree appear. However, this symptom has been on-and-off. I also have not been to a doctor. I wear daily contacts (I wear one pair for three days instead of throwing them out after each day), but this started before then.

  • Could be retinal tear or detaching retina. GET TO AN OPTHAMOLOGIST ASAP!!! Then log onto www.sjogrensworld.org for more information and help. Seek out Mike Bartolatz...he's the spokesman for the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation with world reknown, Dr. Stephen Foster. Get to it...don't wait like I did and almost lose your eyesight! Those "wormlike" things are sound so familiar to me, I look forward to hearing a solution to this thing that has puzzled me since I was born.

  • I have always seen those too; I just assumed they were red blood cells moving through my capillaries.

  • If it appears as small black dots, it can be bacteria. These can increase when you get sick and you can see them go away if you are treated with broad spectum antibiotics.
