hi y'all, new to this forum so bear with me, am seeing a pm doc for my pain but he is dealing with just the pain not the underlying problems which is frustrating. symptoms for joints are strange to say the least and are as follows, worse in the morning and at night. Really bad when I'm turning wrenches, fishing or writing. have been diagnosed with severe carpel tunnel in both L and R hands dominant left handed but ambidextrous. It feels like a pressure slowly building up until i have very limited mobility and limited to my upper torso shoulder, wrists, especially knuckles, and shoulders and neck my mobility issues are alleviated for a short duration once i pop them or they pop themselves involuntarily I would say for ten to fifteen minutes of relief. I am 28 yrs old and have no family history of arthritis and all blood tests have come back negative for RA, arthritis, Lyme disease etc.... and i eat very well but am 5'9 150 lbs with an under active thyroid ...i also wake up in the morning with my left hand balled in a fist so tight that my knuckles are white from what i assume is loss of blood or flow/circulation. My so called sciatic pain and sciatic nerve damage are not showing up on MRI's or X-rays yet are symptomatic of sciatica. The pain stems from my two lower lumbar down to my left buttocks and continues through my left thigh to my calf and is associated with numbness and very painful stabbing and burning feelings and or sensations, i have tried lyrica, garbapentin, and zonisamide for nerve pain none have been very effective, along with what began as low doses of opiate based medications starting at 5-325 hydrocodone and over the past four years have built up quite the tolerance to them i worked my way up from 7.5 by 200 vicoprofin to 10-325 norco to 10-500 lortab to 15mg oxycontin, to 50mg oxycontin, fentanyl patches, percocet and currently the really expensive very non effective butrans 5mcg hour patch that i started 3 days ago along with norco for BT, NOT ONE DOCTOR or specialist including spinal specialist, neurologists, hand surgeons have been able to properly or definitively diagnose these issues. In fact they seem to all contradict each other in their diagnostics, i live in New Braunfels ,TX if anyone knows any good PM docs or specialists or psychiatrists .What is most frustrating is that I am married with four kids, my own business, and two dogs and the worst part is my inability to participate in family activities and having to push the responsibilities onto my wife and watch from the sidelines while my wife teaches my boys how to play baseball and how to be men ahhhhhhhh!!! I have become depressed and then angry and am now currently taking anti-depressants such as cymbalta daily to cope with my mobility issues and coping problems. if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions or insight or any further questions to help shed some light on these "mysteries" i am all ears. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP I AM GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!! And am tired of depending on narcotics to get through my days and nights I literally have gotten to the point that W/O them i am able to do nothing and that is very unsettling for me. past history 3 car accidents only two major, several boxer fractures and a lot of other dislocations and broken bones due to three Irish brothers. Other than thast healthy as a horse till 3-4 years ago. Thanks so much for reading and any responses i may get and god bless.

  • Maybe you should find a good doctor first, but not the diagnosis?I'm afraid that if you still continue to rely on conventional doctors, you'll get the same result - only painkiller drugs, maybe surgery and nothing more...I know, this is very difficult and unusual, but try to find a good acupuncturist. It's not a problem to get pain relief by acupuncture, in some cases such condition even can be cured completely without any chemicals and surgery. But the main problem is to find good acupuncturist, many of them have poor qualification. Gool luck!

Gool luck! Thanks for the insight, that's one source I haven't tried yet however to be completely honest I am a little uneasy with accupuncturists and herbal remedies and chiropractors plus my HMO doesn't cover treatments like this. Thank you for your reply I sincerely appreciate it.

  • It amazes me how many people say you should probably find yourself a good doctor. Yet I simpathize with you 100%. I'm in the same boat as you and I've seen it all. I also have seen a dozen doctors and specialists, and not one of them can find out what's wrong with me. After 10 years of seeing doctors, and being on everything from hydrocodone to Oxycontin, I've forced myself to come off all of it. Yes I went through the withdrawls which was a nightmare in of itself. I had an MRI which showed 4 herniated discs and I have some doctors saying, well thats minor and other doctors saying oh yea I see that. But none of them could tell you what to do. Here's a script, see ya next month. That was it. Physical therapy, injections, massage therapy, acupuncture, ect. None of it did anything. Then the regular physicians tell me, "well, you might want to see a specialist for that. I'm really not an expert." Lol. It's frustrating, and I get it. I'm on ibprofen now, with 2 boys 6 and 3 and I finally started collecting unemployment it was so bad. I can't participate either. Meanwhile, everyone in my family is saying, "oh him, you mean the drug addict." Okay, sure...call me names. But when you end up where I am and I hope you do someday, you'll see....I wish I had more answers than questions for you. If you find any answers, please let me know. I'd love to hear it. I'm in Delaware. There's only 2 PM doctors in the entire state. It's rediculous. I hope you find the help you need. I simpathize with you!Sincerely,DevinHaddonfield04@aol.comhi y'all, new to this forum so bear with me, am seeing a pm doc for my pain but he is dealing with just the pain not the underlying problems which is frustrating. symptoms for joints are strange to say the least and are as follows, worse in the morning and at night. • I would definitely switch doctors. Have you looked into other forms of treatment? I had some back pain when I was pregnant and the pregnancy safe painkillers weren't helping me so I tried electrotherapy at home. The pain relief was long lasting and definitely a better alternative. Hope this helps!
