Hello, I am a 26 year old female. For months now I have had fatigue and hair loss. However, recently I started having a broad range of symptoms and the fatigue became so severe I was struggling to do simple tasks. Also, I have trouble concentrating, my metal process seems generally "sluggish" and absent minded. This prompted a trip to the DR on April 11th. They did a blood and urine test, to my knowledge mostly for diabetes and thyroid problems that came back negative. Since that time the fatigue is still present but notably better. About that time, I started having eye problems, halos, and starbursts around lights, this promoted a trip to the eye DR. I was told I have 15/20 vision but am far sighted and have a slight astigmatism. I should mention I've have migraines on occasion for several yrs now, but nothing like this has happened before. I was given reading glasses, and told my eyes were likely strained. I am still having eye problems despite the glasses. As far as other symptoms, which are off and on, I have had some joint, and muscle pains, joints notably red at times, hand has gone numb, random abdominal pains, rashes/itchiness. Also, I have noticed my mouth and eyes are abnormally dry. But, my most chronic and pressing concerns are the fatigue, and mental confusion. As far as family history my mother has Lupus and fibromyalgia. I am in transition of work/school right now and have a lapse in insurance, so I will have to wait to go back to the DR for further testing. But, I know that many diseases can be difficult to diagnose, and I was hoping for some opinions as to what this could be. Thank you

  • I have everything you are describing and lately have had eye trouble. I forgot to mention the eye trouble on my post! about 9 months ago, I started having trouble seeing. Things would be slightly blurry. I would take out my contacts and watch TV in bed and couldn't see the descriptions or small words on my TV with my glasses. I thought perhaps I needed a new prescription, but could still see fine, just a little blurry. Then a few weeks later I notice that my vision would "jump". Sort of like when you spin around (like when you were a kid) and you open your eyes and your vision kind of "jumps" in a cirlce? And then you fall down laughing?!?!?!? That was as a kid! Anyway, the "jumping" was only when I was tired and more up and down. And mostly when I stared at an object or was looking at the words in a book or computer screen. Or even objects that are a darker color or in contrast from the surroundings, would "jump or pulse". Some patterns of carpets would make me feel this way also. Sometimes looking at this kind of pattern on a carpet with fluorescent lights would bring on a migraine! So...6 months ago, I saw an opthamologist and he said I possibly had "keratoconus", but the tests he ran were inconclusive and would know when I went back in 6 months. I went back 6 months later and he said it was not keratoconus. He said he believed me, but was just stumped and wanted to order a brain MRI, but couldn't until he had more justification. Oddly enough, the migraines I had a year ago have not emerged for 9 months! But, I still have slight bluriness despite testing 20/20 in one eye and 15/20 in the other! I stil have the halos and starbursts around light, too. If I had to guess, I think it is some sort of infection from like mycoplasma or something of that category that is causing all of my symptoms....how do you explain that to a Dr.? I also don't think what I have is rare. I have never heard of anyone else having the eye symptoms in addition to all of the other symptoms. Let me know what you find out. Thanks,Val

  • It sounds like you might have what they think I might have, but I am unsure. It is an inflammitoryautoimmune disease called Sjogren's disease. It effects the salivory glads and causes dry eyes and dry mouth. It might be worth researching???
