I have a friend and her baby of 4 has been diagnosed with autisum but the father seems to think it might be shaken baby syndrome, I would like to know if the long term effects of sbs are similar to autisum!!!

  • Usually shaken baby would show up differently in tests than autism. With shaken baby syndrome there is swelling that causes significant and often easy to find brain damage. Autism on the other hand has a different presentation when tests are performed. Sometimes there can be similar symptoms between the two but there are also major differences. Maybe the baby's father should seek a second opinion if he's concerned at least to put his mind at ease.
