Female who just turned twenty and has had stomach pains, rectal bleeding, bloody stools as well as chest pains from time to time although has never thought much of it or moreover, didn't want to think much of it because she was terrified something could be really wrong with her and she does not want that to be the case. In all reality, who does?

Anyway, back to my point - she woke up Monday mid-morning with stomach pains which worsened throughout the day. Come Monday night, she spent the entire evening tossing, turning and vomiting profusely. Tuesday morning, she noticed she had a severely sore throat, severe headache and was running a temperature of around 101.0 degrease. Despite my reluctance, her Mother decided it was far time I go to the doctor for these symptoms she was aware of (she doesn't talk of the others). Doctor did strep test which came back negative. But, her blood test came back with a elevated white blood cell count (16,000) and reading an ATYPICAL BACTERIAL INFECTION.

Any clues as to what this may be?
Anything helps.

  • "Atypical" means that it is a type of bacteria that is relatively uncommon, or not something usually seen. However, without knowing more, I don't think your question can be answered. If you get us the type of bacteria, it will help.
