15 yr. old female, for 4 weeks before this week, had nausea, dizziness, rash, fatigue, diarrariah on and off, wanted to sleep 24/7. Mono test neg. Last week some better, then Monday, May 3rd, started having severe abd. pain. CT showed enlarged appendix, swollen and inflamed lymph nodes, cyst on ovary and fluid in abd. Exploratory lap. done, got appendix, had a GYN look at cyst and female organs. GYN reported to us that everything's fine including the cyst, that they are normal. The severe abd. pain persisted, sent home on pain meds. and by Fri., May 14, the pain was unbearable, especially during bowel movements. During the meantime, I searched the internet and found a bacteria that would cause these symptoms. Primary doc didn't like that I done that and would ony order more bloodwork and did order a stool culture. Sat. morning, the child sat on the pot from 6:30 til we finally got her to the hospital via ambulance after I got to her house and saw what shape she was in. The ER Doc was receptive to my suggestion and so was the hospitalist she saw after admission. He couldn't say it was this particular bacteria, but by what I showed them decided to treat her for it. They also did blood cultures but we will not hear from any of the cultures until tomorrow. Has anyone else had or have heard of anything like this? Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
