First of all I'm sorry if similar symtoms have been posted, I'm yet to find an answer after endless nights searching the web.

To put it in simple terms, there is something wrong with my stomach..

I'm an athletic sociable person and blood tests and having a camera down my throat tell me I'm a healthy young adult. However for the last 4 years I have been really suffering.

The problem:
I havnt had a normal sized meal without feeling full, bloated and sick for as long as I can remember. Eating has become the hardest part of my life. Before you start to think about the common eating disorders- I love food, I won't to eat as much as possible, I don't worry about what I am eating. Putting on weight is not something I would fear.

I don't have a clue whether this illness is physical or psychological? I've heard of things such as food phobias but I don't see how it could be that when I love eating and want to eat.

I really am stuck and don't know where to turn for help. The gp's I've seen have been no help at all and because I look healthy and seem very positive they dismiss my illness in a way.

For those wondering- I don't have problems on the toilet, my symtoms are as follows:

On the onset of food, eating food and after eating most and sometimes all of the following come into play:

Feel sick
Stomach cramps
Sometimes wind
Noisy stomach
Feel I need the toilet
Feel totally full- to the extent that one more mouthful would actually make me sick, this is sometimes the case.
Sometime acid reflux and indigestion- mainly occurs when I've eating very little for a long period.

I really need to get this sorted as its a very embarrasing illness and is stopping me from living a normal life. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction I couldn't begin to tell you how much I'd appreciate it. I feel I need to see some kind of specialist and have more specific tests relating to my symtoms.

Please, anyone who has anything to share, let me know..

Warm regards,

  • I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I have the same problem, and it's terribly frustrating - looking healthy but feeling miserable, it's hard to find help.I've been bouncing from doctor to doctor for seven years trying to find out what's wrong. I'm going to spend a week at the Cleveland Clinic next month, and if they figure anything out I'll come back here and let you know in case it might help.
